Here are some photos of Hemingway and Faulkner writing.
Hemingway in Africa, probably in the 1950s:
Hemingway at the desk, maybe at one of his houses in Florida or in Cuba:

Wow, Hemingway is just same as his novel's main character in Old man and the Sea! Also same as my imagination before. I have thought he is wonderful author, and now I think he is surprisingly amazing... White elephant show sort of What the best novel is.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I confuse Hemingway and Saint Exupery many times...
ReplyDeleteBoth of them lived harsh life and have experience of war correspondents.
Anyway, Maybe because of this, Hemingway wrote many novels about soldiers. A Farewell to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and the short story that we studied...ah, I don't have book right now so I can't check that out...
I prefer Hemingway looking. HaHa.
ReplyDeleteFaulkner nose... :(
I see the difference of their outfits.
ReplyDeleteWell maybe It's not all time looking but
Hemingway has this too casual/comfortable style
but Faulkner is wearing shirt and tie when
he is writing..I guess that's just my theory
and I found they wrote the stories in different
way. I see Faulkner using typewriter but Hemingway is making stories with his handwriting. I wonder does it make any difference of story's quality? maybe not lol
Pictures of Hemingway represent he is very informal person.
ReplyDeleteBecause of that, he writes many short, simple story like Hills like white elephants.
So, I enjoyed Hemingway's story.
But, Faulkner looks very strict.
I think, that's why A rose for emily was difficult to me.....
Hemingway got his look! It surely makes me interested that his appearance reminds me of the Old man in his novel(just as Jinyoung said:D)
ReplyDeleteIt seems like he liked to take a notes or any ideas about story outdoors surrounded with nature, While Faulkner liked to write his works in his own quiet place!
